I set out early in the morning from Maccagno Inferiore, a tranquil town nestled on the shores of Lago Maggiore. With my motorcycle ready, I started my journey, anticipating the sights and experiences ahead.

Leaving Maccagno Inferiore, I followed a route through Northern Italy. I passed through Vercelli, a town steeped in history, and Alessandria, known for its elegant architecture.

Approaching Genova, I decided to stick to the coastal road, enjoying the winding route and the coastal towns it offered. Savona greeted me with its maritime charm, and Finale Ligure with its inviting sandy beaches and promenades.

A minor navigation error led me into the mountains briefly, providing unexpected but stunning views of the Italian countryside.

By day’s end, I reached Albenga, a small town on the Italian Riviera. The next day I went out to explore and I found a blend of history and modern life, creating a unique atmosphere. Albenga’s cultural heritage was still very much alive in its vibrant streets. The town boasts a rich history dating back to Roman times when it was known as Albingaunum. Its well-preserved historical center is a testament to its enduring heritage. The town features ancient Roman ruins, including a bridge and city walls, offering a glimpse into its past as a vital Roman settlement. Albenga’s medieval architecture and charming squares provide a captivating backdrop to its vibrant present. This unique blend of history and modernity makes Albenga a hidden gem on the Italian Riviera, offering travelers like me a memorable experience.
